DIY Wall Art

Do you have some purchased canvas photos?   Do you feel they don’t work with your decor anymore?

If so don’t throw them out.  You can refurbish them using items you may have in your home.  Check out our new blog post where you can make DIY wall art and refurbish your old canvas into new wall art.

SUPPLIES:

  • canvas
  • chalk paint
  • scissors
  • ruler or tape measure
  • paintbrush
  • mod podge
  • accessories for decoration
  • rhinestone wrap
  • hot glue gun and glue

STEP ONE:

Take some old rags and cover your workspace.  You’re going to take your chalk paint and paint over your canvases.

I am using two canvases that I found discarded.  The chalk paint that I used was Parisian Grey from Folk Art.

STEP TWO:

Therefore after you have finished painting the top and the sides of your canvases.

Take a ruler and measure how big of a square you want to go onto your canvas.  Use any paper you find works with your decor.  I used wrapping paper that I had and felt that it had an elegant look to it.  Get creative!

STEP THREE:

Following the second step.  You are going to take your cut pieces of decor paper and mod-podge them onto your canvas.  By taking a clean paintbrush and putting a light coat on the back of the paper and attaching it to your canvas.

There are different types of mod podge you can use for different projects.  For this one, I just used the standard one that I had in my craft stash.

STEP FOUR:

Lastly, take out your rhinestone wrap and accessories.

Measure out how much rhinestone wrap you are going to need to go around all the edges of the paper on your canvas.

Plugin your glue gun and get it ready to attach the rhinestone wrap and accessories to the canvases.

In conclusion,  I hope you enjoyed making this DIY wall art and are enjoying these beautiful new pieces in your home.

See you soon!
