How To Pick The Perfect Jeans For You

Denim how to pick the right type of jeans for you

Denim is a universal fabric that can carry you throughout the seasons of the year.  Finding a fit and style that suits your body type can be no small feat in today’s shopping market.  Today we are going to discuss how to pick the perfect jeans for you!

So let’s jump in to help you find a pair of jeans that make you feel like a rock star!  As jeans are a timeless wardrobe staple in everyone’s closet.

Two factors that will help you be successful in determining how to pick the perfect jeans for you are:

1). Waist fit

2). Hem length

Firstly let’s dive into the different types of waist fit. The three different types of waist fit are low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise.

Low-rise jeans have a waistline that sits low or below the hip line. Predominantly sitting eight centimeters or three inches below the navel or belly button.  The rise of any type of pant is determined by the distance between the crotch and the waist.  Therefore the rise traditionally is thirty centimeters or twelve inches on a regular pant.  In low-rise waisted jeans that will drop to approximately twenty centimeters and anywhere from seven to ten centimeters.

Mid-rise jeans are just as they suggest.  Where they sit just below the navel.  A mid-rise jean has a rise anywhere from nine to eleven inches.  Typically falling around your natural waistline.   Midrise jeans are your everyday classic wear that tends to work with most body types.  Furthermore, mid-rise jeans are not only known as the most figure-friendly.  They are also compatible with any top length.

High-high-rise jeans are often viewed as retro.  High-rise-waisted jeans are also known to cover the navel and fit above the natural waistline.  This pair of jeans has the longest distance between the waistband and crotch seam.  Which would typically be longer than ten inches.  High-rise jeans were popular in the 70’s, late 80s, and late 90s.  High-waisted jeans eventually became known as mom jeans in the 2000s and continue to be popular today.

Undeniably once you’ve chosen the correct waist-fit for your jeans you’ll want to turn your attention to what style of leg looks flattering on you!

Style of Leg

Straight Leg

This cut of jeans appears to be straight up and down throughout, the entire leg and tends to be a relaxed fit.

Boot-cut

Boot-cut jeans flare out slightly at the ankle and pair fabulously with ankle boots!

Skinny Jeans

Were recently very popular and have been called cigarette jeans.  Moreover, they are tight-fitting throughout the leg from the thigh down to the ankle.

Wide-Leg

Very similar to a straight leg cut is a wide leg cut that begins to flare in the midthigh and continues down to the ankle.  Whereas a straight leg is cut the same throughout the entire leg.

Cropped-Leg

Cropped jeans have shorter inseams and can sit anywhere below the knee and above the ankle.

Likewise,  the color of jeans can create a huge impact.  Going for a darker jean gives you the benefit of appearing more slimmer and polished.  Furthermore, it’s easier to transition from work to an evening out.  Whereas lighter denim tends to project a more relaxed casual appearance.  Maybe perfect for the weekend or when you’re out running errands.

Our last point to tie this all together is fitting according to your body shape.  Shopping for your body type will create a flattering look that will carry you forward in a classy and stylish way.

Fashions change but dressing for your body shape is always in style.  This video goes into great detail describing each body shape and what type of jean styles are going to balance you out and look great for your body type.
