Do you have a cotton yoga bag, that you aren’t using?
I purchased a sling back yoga bag and quickly realized this was not the best style for me in transporting my yoga mat. So what does a girl do? Get rid of this purchased item or refurbish it? If you are like me then I think you can agree it feels so good to repurpose an item and make it more beautiful. So let’s get started!
Your first step is your going to give your bag a press and get out any wrinkles so, it will be easier to stitch.
After you have pressed your bag you will want to take the handle and fold it in half matching up the finished ends to press.
Take your yoga bag to your sewing machine and stitch the handle starting on one end going through to the other end.
Your yoga bag should look like this.
Your next step will include figuring out how much elastic to cut to insert into the tube you created with stitching around the edge of the finished handle.
Insert a safety pin into one end of the elastic and then use that safety pin to feed the elastic through the other end of the tube. Make you hold onto both ends to gather the elastic through the tube.
Once you have gathered the elastic through and pulled the elastic taut. You will then stitch each side of the elastic to the inside of the yoga. Making sure you stitch back and forth horizontally to enforce the elastic in place.
Once this is completed you are done! You can go ahead and insert a bag organizer to help yourself keep whatever you are carrying around organized. I hope you have enjoyed this project and will connect with you soon. Cheers!
